The Everyday Genius

This book rocks! I bought this when my kids were little, in fact it was published the year my youngest was born, 1988. This book was one of the catapults that propelled us into the world of home education. Of course, I was considering homeschooling before I even had children, and it took me until my kids were 11 and 9 before I felt assured enough to take the plunge. WHAT HAD I BEEN WAITING FOR????
Anyway, this is not just for home educators, as I've used many of the concepts in classrooms as well as board rooms!

A Tribe Apart

EVERY parent would benefit from this book, whether their kids are infants, adults, teens, toddlers, whatever.  It's not just for parents of teens, although the research is based on the teen years.  If your children are young, use it as a glimpse into the future.  This book profoundly changed the way I viewed........oh gosh, so many things, I don't know where to start!  If you ever wondered just how crucial the skills we teach at UnParenting.com are, this will remove all doubt!

Sign Babies ASL Flash Cards, Set One

Can you imagine how incredibly wonderful being able to communicate with your baby on a level deeper than just guessing what she wants? The research that has been done on signing with babies is pretty remarkable. Chances are you're already using basic signs to communicate. This will add to you and your baby's silent vocabulary.

The Teenage Liberation Handbook

I LOVE this book and the author's take on school life.  Just so you know, she encourages kids to take charge of their own education, mostly via homeschooling.  Don't fear this book, rather recognize it for the visionary insights it embodies!  And if you want to empower your children in their educational pursuits, put this on their reading list, as well!
